Areté was an important concept to the Ancient Greeks that meant excellence and reaching one’s full potential. To that, we’d add strength, bravery, and wit. A thirst for learning and growth. A yearning to do excellent work. We believe authenticity is core to great teams and leaders. Leadership is more than performance; it’s about humanity. We keep humanity at the center of our work.
We believe all people should thrive at work.
Kristine is fascinated by humans and, in particular, by the human dynamic of teams. She also loves fast-moving entrepreneurial businesses. She created a career that plays to her strengths – quick-witted, smart, ability to speak honestly with kindness, action-oriented, knack for unpacking subtleties in behavior – and she gets jazzed helping leaders get better at leading. Her background is in media. She’s led through times of insane expansion (hello: Wired circa 1999) and stifling contraction (hello: Inc. magazine circa 2008). Prior to co-founding Realize in 2021, she worked as a principal consultant with Patrick Lencioni’s Table Group, where she helped hundreds of teams as they aligned both behaviorally and strategically to perform at their best. She has MBAs from Columbia University and UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, a bachelor’s degree from California State University at Fullerton. A native Californian, she currently lives and works in Oakland and New York City.
Shelly is a trusted advisor to leaders and teams. For the past 12 years she has consulted and coached leaders to help them build high-performing teams and fine-tune their leadership skills. She brings a nurturing but direct style and strives for practical, tangible progress. Shelly is especially passionate about working with leaders who are as open-minded and growth-oriented as she is. Prior to launching Realize in 2022, she spent 10 years as a principal consultant with The Table Group. She also draws from her experience leading teams in a variety of high tech companies, both large and small. Shelly has a B.S. in Business from Trinity University and a Certificate in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University. She, her husband and their 4 almost-grown kids live in Denver and Northern California, and love traveling far and wide to explore cultures, food and wine.
